Happy Back from the Dead Day!

Okay, that is not actually the holiday today, but for me, that is what today should be called. That picture of me with the balloons on my head was apparently the picture of me about 5 hours away from wanting to die. The germs that got Luke, then Cindy, then Jacob finally got me starting on Wednesday night. Thursday was awful- but when you are surrounded by family and friends, it's really not so bad :) Anyway, I am vertical today, which is a huge milestone. But still taking it slow. But, back to the celebrating! Another two-for-one today on account of my dying yesterday...

Happy National Fluffernutter Day!

Do you know what a Fluffernutter is? Well, I know one person who definitely does and that is Chris Sturgis, my friend from BYU days. Chris, this one is for you!

A fluffernutter sandwich is bread, fluff and peanut butter. For those of you who have never been to Massachusettes or had a good friend from there, "Fluff" is simply marshmallow cream. (And not the lame Kraft brand, either. No we're talking genuine "Fluff") Don't worry, I too did not have a clue what that stuff was until the above mentioned Chris (who is from Methuen, MA) enlightened me by telling me about it and then sending me a jar of it the summer after freshman year. (Along with a Boston t-shirt and other goodies. I still remember that! So cool.) Anyway, I have never had one of these bad boys so what better of a day than this to try one out.

Disclaimer: On account of my stomach still not being full strength, I had to let Cindy try one out for me. I plan to try one myself in the coming weeks. But for now, she was a willing guinea pig.

Cindy said she really liked it. In fact, she said that she liked it better than peanut butter and jelly! And by the way, the fluff is actually lower in calories and sugar than grape jelly. Go figure!

Also, for a very funny story about making Fluffernutters the official state sandwich of Massachusettes, along with many other things that the kids of Massachusettes want to enshrine in their local congress, read this.

Onward and Upward....

Happy Leif Ericson Day! (Yerga Hinga Dinga!)

Today is the day that honors Leif Ericson, an explorer who brought the first Europeans known to have set foot in North America, in modern day Canada. You are to celebrate this day by doing three things:

1. Put on your best Viking hat with horns and red beard. Check!
2. Watch the clip of Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick celebrating this day:

Check!

3. You are to get your official Viking Name and personality by going here.

My official viking name is: Jódís Shieldtickler

My Viking Personality: The tougher Vikings might let you on the boat, but generally only when they need ballast. You're not a belligerent person by nature, which is unfortunate if you want to be a Viking. You might be able to hold your own on the battlefield, but you're no "berserker".

You might grumble a bit at the lack of amenities on board a Viking longboat, but you can handle it. Vikings make fun of you all the time. Not always behind your back, either.

People who've known you for a while don't always trust your word. Other people tend to think of you as manipulative and conniving."

Wow, was that is an accurate quiz, or what?! I was thinking about my almost-Viking past just the other day and it was pretty darn close to this. Anyhow, enjoy Leif Ericson Day- I know I did :)

Wow, I totally don't remember sending you Fluff and a boston t-shirt, etc. I must have a terrible memory!
