According to the official website, this day is to "highlight the act of giving, to deliver thousands of smiles, and to showcase the art of balloon twisting and decorating." The best words on the website to me though, are the explanation of why they chose to celebrate this holiday on October 7th. Because, and I quote, "No particular reason, but it's a great way to start National Pizza Month." They read my mind on that one! I guess I need to start eating a heck of a lot more pizza. I have missed 7 days already! Anyway, I was so looking foreward to this day- I couldn't wait to see if my balloon animal making skills were still in tact. Yes, it is true. I did know how to make balloon animals. Why? You may ask? Because back in the summer of 2000 when I worked for the Marriott Grande Vista Resort in Orlando, I was on the activities staff. And we were all taught how to make balloon animals. A skill for my resume, to be sure. So after a quick trip to Walgreens this morning, I had my balloon animal kit, complete with pump. And could I still make all manner of ballooneriffic creations???? See for yourself:
A pretty okay looking swan
A Christmas wreath, complete with hideously oversized bow
Luke enjoying the dog I made. I am sure he is telling the dog about how he watches Thomas on the big screen...
Luke and his inflatable, purple, sword. I couldn't have used blue, could I? Ugh.
For tomorrow's holiday I get to eat something! And that's all I can say. Stay tuned :)
