A Few of My Favorite Things...Volume 1

No, it's actually not raindrops on roses or whiskers on kittens. (Although, whiskers on kittens are pretty dang adorable). I was having a conversation with Jacob the other day about which products or services I would endorse if I were a celebrity- because we all know I am going to actually face this dilemma one day, so I might as well be ready. So we began to start thinking about things that we LOVE, things that we recommend, things we USE and think are a good value. So here, in no particular order are some of those things:

1. Redbox DVD Rental- Holy cow, where has this concept been all my life? We just got the red kiosks here in Lakeland and how in the world can Blockbuster ever survive in a world where Redbox exists? $1 a night DVD rentals and they email you a free rental code every week! You combine this with Netflix (my other movie rental love) and it is dang near perfection!

2. Caress Berry Indulgence Bar Soap- We all know I am not real big on fragrances and perfumes. Most of my favorite smells are soap and cleaner related. Yeah, I'm weird. But, this soap has got to be the best smelling soap/fragrance in the entire world! My mother-in-law gave me a bar that was left over from a service project her ward did for a mutual activity and I left the open box in my car under the front seat and my car smelled so amazing. Eventually I took it out and am using it up right now. Which only means I am actually going to have to buy that specific soap again, instead of just buying the cheapest stuff out there. That never happens so it must be good.

3. Quaker Simple Harvest instant oatmeal- If you are looking for an oatmeal that is worth eating and actually has some heartiness to it (instead of just a big bowl of mush) this is it. I was making some the other day in the microwave and Jacob came in and asked what I was baking. Ehh? Try it, you will love it. The Honey Vanilla Almond is divine. The pecan flavor is a close second.

4. Retailmenot.com- Never buy anything online without checking here first. This website lists all the current online coupon codes for pretty much any website there is. Type in the website name, see if there are any coupon codes for use and voila! instant savings. I saved $30 the other day on an order for Christmas. Love it!

5. Brinkman LED Headlamp-This was a stocking stuffer from my parents to Jacob about 2 years ago and this little thing has been such an awesome gadget to have around. We both use this all the time, whether it is climbing in the attic or working on the car, etc. It is so nice to not have to HOLD a flashlight! Only about $15 and well worth it! You really use this way more than you think you would...

6. Mary Kay Blemish Control Toner- My skin would look about a million times worse without this stuff. Thanks to my supplier, Krista, I am stocked up for the next few months. And even if I had to pay full price for this- (which, are you kidding? do I ever? No way) I guess I would because I like it that much.

7. Golden Curry Sauce by S&B- We eat this about twice a month (had it last night, in fact) and I love it. Jacob ate this all the time growing up because his Dad got introduced to it on his mission in Japan. I personally do not think of this as asian in any way. It kind of has a pumpkin spice to it. Anyway, a big pot of veggies and this sauce and I am in heaven. Thank goodness you can buy it at the local Publix.

8. Wild Geese that Fly with the Moon on their Wings-....Okay, just kidding on this last one. I am definitely going to be adding a volume 2 to this list as I remember and think of more things. And remember- any of these things would make a great gift this Christmas. Trust me, kids LOVE getting curry in their sock. :)

I completely agree with you on the headlamp! I got one from an old belle a few years ago and love it! It seriously could be the most useful gift, I've ever used.

As for the curry...my mom is japanese, my dad served in Japan and I served in Japan...need I say more? Great stuff!

Merry Christmas.
