Experience #13- Visit the Grand Canyon!

We're back! We have just returned from our ultimate road trip and I have decided that blogging about it is going to have be accomplished in small chunks. It would be way too overwhelming to do all at once, so for my first entry, we will start with an experience I completed while out on the road. Whoo-hooo!

So on our 4th day of driving, we got up and went to Grand Canyon National Park, AZ. It was absolutely amazing! I was totally not prepared for how MAMMOTH it was. You literally just drive into the park, pull over on the side of the road, walk across the street and BAM! there is the edge. Incredible! What is even more incredible is that for a majority of the places you stand to see to see the Grand Canyon, there are no fences or guardrails. None. Needless to say, we had an iron grip on Luke most of the time. My hand was even sweaty at one point and I had to loosen up just a tad ;) Anyway, we had a great time there- only spent about 3 hours total but it was enough to get my pictures and see one of the 7 Wonders of the World. So was it Grand? YES IT WAS!

A very kind tourist offered to take a family pic. Thank you to that guy :)

Behind the rail- yes, but feeling like Luke was safe? Not really....

I thought this tree was so cool, but Jacob is the only one I could convince to climb in it. The kids kept saying it was too high. It really wasn't, but put it next to a chasm thousands of feet deep and they get a little edgy. Understood.

So amazing!

Happy campers at the Grand Canyon.

"Goodbye Grandpa Canyon!" In his attempt to copy Cindy, this is what Luke was saying as we left the park. Cindy was simply yelling out, Goodbye Grand Canyon! but Luke had his own version. Funny kid!
