Sporty Spice (minus the glamour)

Since my schedule today consists of working in the garden, raking the yard and then doing P90x, chores and laundry, this hairdo seems to be just what the doctor ordered.

(Forgive me for assaulting your eyes with my makeup-less face...)

And speaking of doctors, my brother Chris wrote a Jimmerick! No, seriously, I am so proud :) Here it is:

BYU lost in the Tourney and simmered.
Too many shots ended up rimmered.
But their boy passed the test,
He's surpassed all the rest
and now the whole country's been Jimmered.

Nice work, Dr. Bingham. Now get out there and save some lives!

Did that just happen? Yes it did!

First off, just talked to my dad and my mom is home and resting after surgery 2.0 today. The doctors said it all went very well, the nodes they removed looked good, so hopefully there will be no more cutting involved :)

Secondly, today's hair is just the sleeked low ponytail, with a little bit of volume in the back. It is beastly hot outside so this will work well with my sunglasses, I think.

Day 18

This looks really poofy, but the picture is an illusion, it is only mostly poofy. And there is a big difference between mostly poofy and all poofy.

Nextly, let me just say:
I just won a contest on the radio!
No, seriously, ME! I just won $200! All you do is enter your name online and then listen to see if they pick you at 8:20, 1:20 or 4:20 everyday. And they did!! I cannot believe that just happened! And even better is that they asked me if I had a favorite song and I told them to play "Tainted Love" in honor of my Mom and THEY DID! Amazing :) Cindy will be blown away, I can't wait to tell her they called my name!

Finally, in case you were not aware, the Jimmer won the National Player of Year award for Men's College Basketball this past weekend. Which only means one thing: JIMMERICKS, baby!

Just two from me....

The critics thought he just couldn't do it,
But we Cougars will tell you we knew it.
Jimmer won the big prize
And now you can surmise
That the fame, well, he just can't eschew it!

Full of highs, lows, the bitter and sweet-
The Cougs' season is forthwith complete.
Next year won't be the same
having to watch every game
without shots made from 86 feet :)

Two for One

I didn't make it to press yesterday with my amazing "hairdo" of the day, but considering I was looking like this for most of it, I didn't think anyone would really mind too much.

(Isn't my crazy eyeball totally creepy!?)

I consider the ballcap a true hairstyle. Plus, I had to use it as one of my 30 styles so that when I throw us all for a loop by wearing a hat that is NOT a ballcap, you will see just how different I look.

As far as today goes, I know that some might think that just putting a flower in your hair doesn't qualify as a new way of doing your hair, but you have to understand that, for me, this is a huge deal. I never wear flowers or accessories in my hair. I think about it all the time, but never have the guts to actually do it in public. I think people would think it truly strange coming from me. And even more amazing is that today was a choir performance in church, so not only did I wear the flower to church, I wore it in front of the entire congregation! What next, singing a solo? Skydiving without a chute? Absolutely not. Maybe going with Hot salsa instead of just Medium....But I feel pretty proud of myself. And better yet, I got compliments on my flower! So, thank you Ellen Foley for placing it correctly in my hair at church this morning. I couldn't have done it without you :)

And yes, Karin, that is the bracelet you made me :)

Ever done your hair with pliers?

Well, as of today, I have! Today I chose the old chopsticks-style updo. Hi-yah! (I will be sporting a lot of updos over the next few days as the thermometer continues to climb like there's no tomorrow. It's almost ninety degrees again today and I just couldn't bear to have my hair down while I sweat it out in car line...) Anyway, the chopsticks seemed a little long after I got them wedged in there good and tight, so I had to take some needle nose pliers and trim them a bit. Anyway, I think it turned out pretty nice. And what do you know, I think I was wearing this shirt last Friday! Ha ha, but at least my hair is different!

Business in the front...

Master Sensei in the back.

And as an added bonus, I found that Luke had taken this picture on the webcam while I walked out of the room to primp myself:

I am sure he was looking at all the pictures of me when he made that face :)

Yet Another Request

Well, my Mom found out today that she is going to have surgery again on Monday to remove more cancers they didn't find the first time around :( Initial tests done during the first surgery suggested otherwise, but after complete biopsies were done, this is the course of action that is necessary. She will also have to travel down the road of radiation and chemotherapy. I told her if I could do that in her place, I would do it in a second, but gosh darnit, she kinda has to do that one herself. Which is really the hardest thing for me to accept. So if you can remember her in your prayers over the coming weeks, my entire family would be ever so grateful and bless your names to the third generation. Which is pretty good, because most people only offer up to the second, so we're pulling out all the stops here. Honestly, everyone has been so wonderful already, forgive me for my continued begging. Overall her prognosis is still very, very good, she just is going have to take the 'scenic route' for a while on her journey back to normal life. Which, I do believe, isn't that far off :)

What's up, do?

I realize that I am totally boring you to death with all of my hairdos, but if I can just get my PC back today I will have so many other ways in which to torture you :) Let's all cross our fingers, shall we?

In the meantime, I am off to pick up Cindy from school looking like this:

Which is going to be really difficult driving with my head to the side like that, but I think I can do it. For the record, this hairstyle is rubber band free. I used one of those big claw clip thingys in the back. Ta-da! The messy look always agreed with me :)

Yes, normally Cindy is a bus rider in the afternoon, but I have not been impressed with some of her bus stories lately, and worst of all "her boyfriend Carter" is on that bus. She told me this on Monday and that was officially the day she stopped riding the bus. It takes away an extra hour out of my day, but if it saves her from boyfriends and borderline-innapropriate rhymes and stories, I don't mind one iota. Just make sure you take Luke to the bathroom before you leave because there are only two sure times he uses the bathroom during the day: during carline and during dinner. Just call him Old Faithful :)

Incognito

Firstly, I am wearing glasses today in this picture for two reasons. 1. I got a terrible night's sleep and they hide the ginormous bags under my eyes and 2. I think this hairdo is a giant fail and don't really want anyone to know it is me :) In all honesty I just think my hair needs to be about 2 feet longer and then indian braids might be a viable option. Which is too bad because this seems to be the standard female catburglary hairdo so my life of crime is just gonna have to wait. Shucks!

Secondly, this week for P90X, Jacob and I are doing doubles, which is two workouts a day. Darn Jacob and his incredible dedication! I really thought this might be the week he would want us to fall off the wagon. But what do you know? He was up at 5:30am running! And I was conscious enough to make homemade whole wheat waffles, which is another feat in and of itself. Seriously, Jacob is impressive.

Thirdly, because it is Wednesday and American Idol is on tonight...

Is it just us, or does

Bow Diddley

It's totally raining again all day today, so curly my hair will have to be :) I went with the low ponytail, tied with with a white bow. Kinda feeling a collegiate/preppy vibe with my BYU shirt on today and thought the white bow fit that description. Am I right in that thinking? I did discover that my web camera was on the "mirror image" setting, so I switched it. But now I feel like all my pictures look weird and I am so confused while sitting in front of it. I guess I was subconsciously used to it feeling like a mirror without mentally comprehending that it was. Weird!

My teeth are very muppet-like in that photo... Webcams can sure give you a complex if you're not careful :)

Just call me Moses

Day 11

After looking at yesterday's picture again, it seems a little over the top for me. Maybe it was the serious wannabe model face I am making, not sure, but it seems a bit of a stretch... Anyway, today I decided to try the same opposite part in my hair, only with curly hair. Where do I come up with these AMAZINGLY original ideas? I am so brilliant! Actually, I did do a little more than just make my hair curly. I did also purposely keep my bangs very straight. (Used the flat iron in fact!) I wanted to see if that looks weird- straight bangs, curly hair. So here is what I ended up with. What say you?

AND, I have to put a shout out to my beloved friend Karin, who sent me two of these amazing reusable bags in the mail today. Now THAT is more like a normal Jessica face :) (I am confused by the webcam taking pictures, but they are backwards???)

So that little surprise has made today officially awesome! Unlike for Luke on Saturday night, who woke up from a long evening nap and was not very happy about scrambled eggs for dinner....

I think he is adopted. I mean, it's breakfast for dinner, dude! Where's the love?

A Riddle

Day 10

Okay, so you might be asking yourself, what is the big deal about this hairstyle? Looks like normal straight hair, right? But wait, there is something different and it is the fact that I parted my hair on the opposite side today!!! And I gotta admit, I love it! It totally works against my radical cowlick to give my hair a little bit of volume that was lacking before. And now I also know that Cindy is a giant baby when I part her hair on the other side. From time to time I decide to style it that way and when I do, she freaks out and complains that I am torturing her like a Guantanamo Bay detainee. But heck, even if it was torture, it's worth it :)
